Hi Talia,

As far as I know, the only place that is sometimes open to the public is Whippoorwill Farm, which is the old Thimble Farm. They didn't have enough this year to open to the public, though--only enough for their CSA members. Whippoorwill is now run as a CSA (community supported agriculture), which is very cool. You can sign up (probably still) for a share, pay ahead, and then go and pick up a variety of farm-grown vegetables every week. I did it last year and loved it. Other farms that sold their strawberries include Morning Glory and Norton Farm.

I used to always pick strawberries with my children at Thimble Farm, but ever since they closed I have not found another place on the island to pick strawberries. Where do you go, if it is not a secret?
Thanks Talia

I have never attempted homemade ice cream but this - homemade ice cream with the best strawberries of the season from the Northeast- sounds amazing. And your peach ice cream description has me nostalgic for days spent "down the shore" and a little ice cream shop that had incredible fresh peach ice cream. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
