I like to add lots of interesting flavors to my pesto. I put walnuts, parmesan cheese, red roasted pepers, kalamata olives or black olives and mix it all together. Oh yes, a clove or two of garlic went in there too. Spread on flat bread or slightly dried thick homemade bread. YUM!

Well, I love toasted pecans, so i can imagine they would make a really delicious pesto. Good idea!

Toasted pecans (I live in the deep South) also work in place of pine nuts. I think pine nuts are a bit expensive for using in pesto where their flavor is mostly covered by the zesty basil.

Dear Commenter-- Who are you? For some reason that comment is showing up under my name, and, of course, I didn't write it!! Very strange. I will try to post more about herbs, as I do think lots of folks are hungry for more info about them.
