But disregarding these two events (almost) entirely, I woke up on Monday, February 14, 2011, completely focused on something else: Getting my cookbook manuscript into Express Mail.<\/p>\n<p>Mission accomplished. At noon, Roy drove me to the West Tisbury post office, I got out my credit card, and handed over a pretty heavy box containing the manuscript, the disc, some test photos and a cover letter. If all goes as it should, the box will travel from my Island home in New England to my editor\u2019s desk in downtown San Francisco by noon (Pacific Time) tomorrow, satisfying the contract I signed, which required me to deliver these things on February 15, 2011.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7320_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1518\" title=\"IMG_7320_1\" src=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7320_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"179\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a>It feels both disorienting (now what do I do?) and a bit anticlimactic (in reality, I have been wrapping this up for the last several weeks). But also exciting. Writing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fast-Fresh-Green-Susie-Middleton\/dp\/0811865665\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1297718258&amp;sr=1-1\"><em>Fast, Fresh &amp; Green<\/em><\/a> and then seeing what a beautiful book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chroniclebooks.com\/\">Chronicle<\/a> produced was totally a cool experience as far as I was concerned. And even though there is still a lot of work ahead (including some work from me on metric measurements) to make <em>Fresh &amp; Green for Dinner<\/em> a reality, I am looking forward to it. I will keep you posted on the production process, but bear in mind that the book won\u2019t be released until early spring of next year. (And again, that all depends on lots of things going the way they should.)<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, I\u2019m going to do what all good cookbook authors do\u2014dream up another book! And do some magazine writing, plan a vegetable garden and a chicken coop\u2014and, oh, clean my kitchen, clean my office, organize the garden tools, cook a lot of vegetables\u2026that sort of thing!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7292_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1516\" title=\"IMG_7292_1\" src=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7292_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7287_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1515\" title=\"IMG_7287_1\" src=\"http:\/\/sixburnersue.com\/cooking-fresh-eating-green\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_7287_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>P.S. We didn\u2019t entirely forget Valentine\u2019s Day around here. Over the weekend, Libby and I improvised Valentine\u2019s cookies from Christmas cookie dough (Roy\u2019s favorite) and Christmas decorations.
